Presentation of See Me Children to the Unitarian Universalist Church
See Me Children Inc. was honored to join the community in Chicago for a Happy Meal Giveaway held in loving memory of Mekhi James.
Mekhi was just three years old when his life was tragically cut short on June 6, 2020—shot and killed on his way home from a haircut, excited for a Happy Meal that would never come.
In his memory, The James-Gail Foundation, founded by Mekhi’s cousin, hosts the annual Happy Meal Giveaway to bring joy and comfort to families who have lost children to gun violence. This year, more than 500 Happy Meals and special treats were shared with local children and families.
As part of the event, See Me Children Inc. was deeply proud to donate and unveil the original ceramic sculpture of Mekhi, ensuring that his face—and his story—will continue to be seen, remembered, and honored for generations to come.
